SHARI'AH - ISLAMIC LAW
Shari'ah
is the code of law for the Islamic way of life which Allah SWT has
revealed for mankind and commanded us to follow.
The word Shari'ah means a clear straight path or example.
Shari'ah,
or Islamic law, is the code of conduct for Muslims and is based on two
main sources: The Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet. It aims
towards the success and welfare of mankind both in this life and the
life after death.
Shari'ah
prescribes a complete set of laws for the guidance of mankind so
that Good (Ma'ruf) may triumph IS QURAN COPIED FROM THE BIBLE?
No. This is not true. All evidence show that the Qur'an could not have been copied from the Bible.
Take for example the story of the flood that occurred in the days of the
prophet Noah, on whom be peace. This event is narrated in both the
Bible and the Qur'an. A careful examination of the two versions will
show that the Qur'anic version could have come from no other source but
God alone. One important difference between the two accounts is that
whereas the Bible describes the flood as a worldwide flood (see Genesis
ch. 7) the Qur'an mentions it as a local flood affecting the people of
Noah (see Qur'an 7:59-64). Today it is acknowledged that no record
exists of a worldwide flood occurring at the time specified in the
Bible. How did the author of the Qur'an avoid this mistake unless the
author was God Himself?
Muhammad is dead. But Jesus is alive. Doesn't that mean that Jesus Is superior to Muhammad?
Muslims
believe that Jesus and Muhammad were both prophets and messengers of
Allah. Peace be upon both of them. Muslims will not belittle any of
God's prophets or reject their message. The Qur'an tells us to declare
our faith in all of the prophets including Abraham, Moses, and Jesus,
and that we should make no distinction among them (see Qur'an 2:136;
3:84; 2:285). This means that since each of them preached the true
message of God, it would be wrong to say we believe in some but not in
others.
WHAT DOES ISLAM SAY ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
Islam
condemns domestic violence. Once a number of women came to the prophet, on whom
be peace, to complain that their husbands had beaten them. The prophet announced
that men who beat their wives are not good men. The prophet also said: Do not
beat the female servants of Allah.
Allah
knows that life is not always a bowl of cherries. And so He stipulates that a
man must be kind to his wife even if he happens to dislike her (Qur'an 4:19).
Allah offers a good reason as to why men should not dislike their wives. Allah
says that He has placed much good in women (Qur'an 4:19). In this regard the
prophet Muhammad, on whom be peace, said that no believing man should hold a
grudge against a believing woman. So what is a husband to do if he dislikes
some things about his wife? This is bound to occur, since no human being is
perfect. The prophet instructed that men should look for the agreeable traits
in their wives rather than focus on their faults. (See Saheeh Muslim, chapter

PARADISE
What do you want most out of life? A nice
house, expensive clothes, money, wealth, opulence? What if you were told about
a place where you could get everything you wanted and keep it forever? What
would you say? Of course you would be very excited and want to see this perfect
place right away. Surely no one would ever object to living in such a wonderful
place.
Now just think. Has anyone ever talked to
you about a place filled with a countless array of blessings, where beauty is
spread out at your feet? Surely someone must have done so, telling you and all
other people about the existence of a life - the life of Paradise - where
everything that you want will be prepared for you. Everyone knows that after
death there is an endless Paradise. Everyone judged worthy to enter it will
find everything they desire there; they will receive their rewards and
blessings, and live in a perfect place surrounded by beauty forever. To those
faithful servants who pass the test of this earthly life, Allah has promised an
unprecedented land. The limited time one spends in this world, on the other
hand, is an opportunity to attain these beauties.

SIGNS OF QIYAMAH
Auf bin Malik (R.A.) says: I came to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam) while he was in his skin tent during the Tabuk expedition. He said to
me, "Count six things before the advent of Qiyamah:
- My death
- The conquest of Jerusalem
- Mass deaths amongst you people, just as when sheep die in large numbers during an epidemic
- Abundance of wealth to such an extent that if a person were to be given a hundred Dinars he will still not be satisfied
- General anarchy and bloodshed, that no Arab household will be spared from it
- Then a life of peace as a result of a peace agreement between you and the Banil Asfaar (Romans) which they will break and attack you with a force consisting of eighty flags and under each flag will be an army of twelve thousand men."

What are some of the rights given to women in Islam?
The
Qur'an places men and women on a similar relationship before God, and
promises both the final goal of paradise for those who believe and do
right (see Qur'an 3:195; 4:124; 16:19; 40:40). The Qur'an also speaks of
similarity in terms of creation. God tells us that He created a single
soul and from it its mate, then He made countless men and women from
those two (see Qur'an 4:1) The Qur'an does not contain the belief that
the man alone is created in the image of God. Because of this
fundamental similarity between men and women, the Qur'an declares that
women have rights similar to the rights against them according to what
is equitable (see Qur'an 2:228).

As they went along,they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a field close by,and who had nearly finished his day's work.
The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them."
An investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal village when a
small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were
several large yellow fin tuna. The investment banker complimented the
fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch
them.
As I looked closer at this girl, I saw that she was kind of perched on her chair. I then realized she had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and torso. She was wearing a little white dress with red polka dots.
A highly skilled carpenter who had grown old was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire.
The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter agreed to this proposal but made sure that this will be his last project.
"You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn't cost you nothing? Boy, I wish..." He hesitated. Of course Shuaib knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that.
As stressful as that was for us, my visits to that hospital almost always leave me feeling grateful. Why? Because of "the other doors."

WHAT IS JIHAD?
The word Jihad
represents a concept which is much misunderstood in the West. The
concept is explained nicely by the Christian scholar Ira 6. Zepp, Jr. in
his book entitled A Muslim Primer on pages 133-135. We adapt from his
answer the following:
The essential meaning of Jihad is the spiritual, psychological, and
physical effort we exert to be close to God and thus achieve a just and
harmonious society. Jihad literally means "striving" or "struggle" and
is shorthand for Jihad fi Sabeel Allah (struggle for God's cause). In a
sense, every Muslim is a Mujahid, one who strives for God and justice.

Reward for Helping Others
Ibn Abbas narrated, Once I was in a state of itikaaf in the Prophet's Mosque (Medina). A certain person came to me and sat down. I said to him, 'O so and so, you look sad'. He said, 'Yes of course, o fraternal brother of the Prophet. So-and-so has his due on me, and by the one who lies in eternal peace in the grave (i.e. Prophet Muhammad), I am not able to pay the debt' I said, 'Should I not talk to him about your debt?' He said, 'You can do so if you like' There upon I put my shoes on and went out of the mosque. The person asked him, 'Have you forgotten the state you were in (i.e. itikaaf)?' I replied, 'Not at all, but I have heard rom the one who lies in eternal peace in the grave [saying this his eyes became filled with tears], said:The Sight of Kabah

There lived a pious man all by himself, who spent most of his time in praying, fasting and praising Allah. Almost all his waking hours were utilised in meditation and devotions. Prayer of a Sick Person
Imam Baihaqi has stated on the authority of Hadhrat Ali (ra) who stated:
"Once, I was present with the Prophet (peace be upon him). At that
time, I had fallen so much sick that I prayed to Allah Almighty to grant
me death if I am destined to die so that I may get relief from the
sickness, otherwise, I may be restored to normal health from the
sickness if I have to live for sometime. I, also, prayed for being
granted patience if this sickness is a test for me from Allah Almighty."
Hearing that, the Prophet beat Ali with his foot and observed: "Oh Ali!
repeat what you were saying." Ali (ra) repeated his prayer. Then the
Prophet prayed to Allah Almighty: "O Allah! Heal him from the sickness."
Ali (ra) stated that he became healthy the same day and the pain never
appeared again.

A blind boy sat on the steps of a
building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am
blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

The Emperor and the Seed
An
emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose
his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his
