How To Turn Your Laptop Into a WiFi Hotspot
Creating a WiFi hotspot is an easy way to share
your internet with other devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets,
basically anything that can connect to a wireless network. This feature
is available on most of the newer smartphones and lets you share mobile
internet with other devices. But what if you’ve got an ethernet
connection you want to share and you don’t have a router but you have a
laptop? You can simply turn your laptop into a WiFi hotspot within a
minute, without any fussing around. So here’s how to turn your laptop
into a WiFi hotspot!
Using Your Laptop as a WiFi hotspot
While traveling, you might stay at a hotel that let you access the internet, for free or on a paid basis. Most of these hotels either provide just one ethernet cable, or let only one device log in with a single username and password. In such situations, you can turn your laptop into a WiFi hotspot so you can connect all your devices to the internet. Similarly, even at home it makes a lot of sense if there’s no router available. The shared network uses WPA2 encryption, so your WiFi network remains secure.Step 1 - To begin, download a free tool called Virtual Router Plus from here.
Step 2 - Extract Virtual Router Plus to any directory you like and run VirtualRouterPlus.exe.
Step 3 - You should see a screen like the one below where you can enter your new shared network’s name (SSID) and password, as well as what type of connection is to be shared. In this case, it’s a WiFi network.
Step 4 - Now click “Start Virtual Router Plus”, and after a few seconds, your devices should be able to connect to the shared internet connection like below:
